— As Emohua Local Government Commences 4th Road Project
As the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd continues to receive commendations for the infrastructural revolution witnessed across the local government area under his administration, the coordinators forum of grassroot development initiative (GDI) has congratulated the council chairman on his laudable achievements in less than one year in office.
Speaking when the coordinators forum of grassroot development initiative; the umbrella body of the 23 LGA coordinators of the foremost Pro-PDP pressure group in Rivers State joined Dr. Chidi Lloyd on a tour of projects being executed by his administration across Emohua local government area on Friday, the leader of the forum and former CTC chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA, Hon Collins Onunwo thanked Governor Wike for ensuring that the Emolga council Boss returned back to the PDP, his original political family, stressing that the council chairman has in less than one year replicated the governor in the area of quality project implementation.
He added that the forum was proud to be associated with Dr. Chidi Lloyd, emphasizing that the council chairman has proven that the leadership of PDP did not make any mistake when they settled for him to oversee the local government council few months after his return to the party.
Hon Collins Onunwo announced the adoption of Dr. Chidi Lloyd as a patron of GDI coordinators forum, describing the Emolga council Boss as a worthy ambassador of the New Rivers Vision of Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Speaking further, Hon Collins Onunwo said it was the very first time a local government administration simultaneously embarked on four different road projects amidst other ongoing infrastructural projects , describing Dr Chidi Lloyd as a pace setter.
Reacting to the series of verbal attacks on Governor Wike by Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Hon Collins Onunwo urged the embattled Ebonyi State governor to consult the chairman of Emohua local government area for tutorial on quality project implementation, describing Ebonyi State government projects under David Umahi as substandard.
In his brief remark, Dr. Chidi Lloyd attributed his administration’s achievements in less than one year to the non interference of Governor Nyesom Wike in local government allocations, stating that council chairmen in Rivers State are in full control of their local government allocations.
The council chairman said he was determined to leave a mark from the very day he accepted to contest for the chairmanship position, recalling the commentaries and criticisms that greeted his emergence and the insinuation that he was way bigger than the office of a council chairman.
In his words; “I think we are able to achieve what you are seeing today because we have a governor who doesn’t tamper with local government allocations.
“While I was in the other side of the political divide we were told that the reason why some council chairmen couldn’t undertake developmental projects was because the governor interferes with council funds but I can tell you that all that were just lies.
“Today i am in a better position to understand that the story is false and misleading because the governor doesn’t even know when we hold our JAAC meetings.
“What is important here and why we’re making progress is that we are determined to leave a mark, and we do not have entitlement mentality. You know I just returned to the PDP and I have to justify the trust of the people. If I was in PDP all these years maybe I wouldn’t have performed like this; maybe I would have been claiming to have suffered so much for the emergence of the New Rivers Vision and take the opportunity to divert public funds to myself but we have no choice than to appreciate the people for accepting us back to the party and entrusting us with the office we occupy today. We can only thank them through the implementation of people oriented projects across the local government area.
“You know when you give a big man a small office, he expands the office to meet his size and when you give a small man a big office, he reduces the office to his size. So for us, what we have done is to raise the bar. You remember they said I am bigger than the position of council chairman, that’s why we have decided to expand the office to our size by embarking on projects believed to be way beyond a local government administration”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has commenced a 1kilometer road project with 2 kilometer drainage, the 4th road project being executed simultaneously by his administration in less than one year in office.
The council chairman said the 4th road project which is sited in Akpabu community and named after Governor Nyesom Wike (Chief Nyesom Wike Drive) was conceptualized in honour and appreciation of the governor’s love, support and magnanimity to the people of the area.
Reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects before embarking on new ones, Dr Lloyd promised to judiciously utilize the scares resources available to the council for the development of the area.
He further disclosed that his one year anniversary was going to be celebrated with harvest of projects, following the completion of some critical infrastructural projects conceptualized by his administration across the local government area.
